"Mallard" became the World's fastest steam loco in 1938 when it achieved 126mph, a record it still holds today. Now preserved, it can be seen at the National Railway Museum in York.
This special model was produced to mark the 80th Anniversary of this record.
The loco is finished with 18 carot Gold plating on the wheels, running gear and other metal parts. The model comes in a special box with wooden plinth with 18-carot gold plated rails. The box also contains a reproduction of the plaque commemorating its historic achievement the original of which are carried on each side of the loco in the NRM.
While the model is fitted with a 5-pole skew wound motor, it is recommended that this is considered a "special display" model as running the loco may cause damage to the gold plating.
Limited Edition of 1260 models.
